Toronto, ON January 15, 2020 – Massey Capital is pleased to announce the addition of three new positions to its head office team: Ahren Cadieux as Director of Marketing, Sudesh Mehta as Controller, and Anam Chaudhry as Finance Manager.
Ahren Cadieux is an entrepreneur and creative thinker who founded New Republic Design House, a design agency based in Toronto that focuses on brand design, lead generation, digital marketing, and sales growth for the past ten years. A strong belief guides Ahren’s work in design as a problem-solving tool to recognize and form relationships between ideas and reality, which drives company’s growth.
After spending nearly a decade working in marketing and design for brands and start-ups, Ahren has been a critical player taking companies such as Egan Visuals and Standard Metal Hardware Manufacturing Ltd. to the next level. Ahren has grown these companies by spearheading key sales and marketing initiatives that generate leads, increase brand recognition, and drive sales.
Ahren has created meaningful design solutions and experiences for various companies, including CIBC, Live Nation, Bolle, and Sony. In addition to his marketing and branding experience, Ahren played professional beach volleyball for ten years for the National Team and is now coaching the next generation of athletes in Canada to reach their goal to podium in the Olympics.
Rica Lam is a Corporate Analyst at Massey Capital supporting head office and portfolio companies’ management teams, providing review, support and analysisin M&A business development, marketing and finance.
Most recently, Lam’s projects at Massey Capital have included (i)preparing financial modelsfor potential platform acquisitions (ii) the implementation of new systems and processes at our head office (iii) launching social media marketing campaigns for Egan Visual Corporation and Standard Metal Hardware Manufacturing Ltdand (iv) financial reporting.
Lam completed her Bachelor of Medical Sciences, Honours Specialization in Interdisciplinary Medical Studies from the University of Western Ontario in 2019. She currently lives in Toronto and enjoys spending time outdoors with her friends and family.
Connor Santoni is an Operations Analyst at Massey Capital working alongside our portfolio companies performing tasks across all facets of our businesses including operations improvement, finance support, market analysis, business development and marketing campaigns.
Most recently, Santoni’s projects at Massey Capital has included (i) conducting a country wide industry analysis to identify new sales leads and areas of improvement to increase market share (ii) implementation of new systems, processes, and marketing initiatives (iii) conducting inventory analysis (iv) generatinging sales leads and (v) job re-engineering.
Santoni completed his Bachelor of Commerce with a Minor in Economics from McMaster University in 2019. He was a member of the McMaster Men’s Varsity Volleyball team that won 4 OUA gold medals, 4 CIS medals. Santoni was a two time Captain and named an Academic All-Canadian for both the 2017-18, and 2018-19 seasons. He currently lives in Toronto and enjoys sports, and spending time with his friends and family.
Sudesh Mehta is the Controller at Massey Capital where he has overall finance, accounting and treasury responsibility for a portfolio of manufacturing companies.
Mehta has an extensive +30-year background with a proven track record leading finance teams in manufacturing, distribution, and service companies.
From, 1988 to 2018, Mehta held Senior Manager positions in Finance at Eurofase Inc., a wholesaler of lighting products, Egan Visual Corporation, a manufacturer of visual communication systems, Artaflex Inc., an electronics manufacturer, Alcan Packaging Weston, a $23 billion multi-national manufacturer of aluminum and packaging products, Genpak LP, a flexographic printing/packaging manufacturer with $50M+ annual sales, The Benson Group of Companies, a manufacturing and distribution company with $30M+ annual sales & Digital Media Networks Corporation, a satellite information service company with $5M+ annual sales.
Mehta, a CMA and CPA, holds a B. Com. and a MBA from the University of Toronto and currently lives in Markham.
Andrew Kocur is a Senior Associate at Massey Capital with overall responsibility for sourcing, evaluating, modelling, due diligence, negotiating and closing all platform and bolt-on acquisitions.
Kocur works closely with Massey Capital’s finance, operations, IT, HR, legal, tax and insurance teams throughout the deal process. Kocur has strong relationships with Massey Capital’s senior lending partners and is responsible for securing optimal debt financing structures for Massey Capital when needed. Over the past 2 years, Andrew has led and closed numerous acquisition including M.K. Rittenhouse & Sons Ltd., MSU Mississauga Ltd., Working Walls Solutions Inc., Precision Turf Technologies Inc., Exact Furniture Ltd., Standard Metal Hardware Manufacturing Ltd., and Dol Turf Restoration Ltd.
Kocur completed his Bachelor of Economics from McMaster University in 2017. He was a member of the McMaster Marauders Varsity Volleyball team that won 4 OUA gold medals, 4 CIS medals and was selected as a CIS All-Canadian in 2016. He currently lives in Toronto and enjoys playing sports, camping and travelling.
Kyle Sommerville is a Senior Associate at Massey Capital with overall responsibility for deal origination for platform and bolt-on acquisitions.
Sommerville graduated with a BA from Wilfrid Laurier University and began his career in finance in 2008. After spending 7 years with RBC and Scotia in their Wealth Management divisions and completing various investment industry certifications, Sommerville began building re-development real estate partnerships and joint-ventures throughout the GTA as a co-founder of Weston Asset Management.
Sami Masri is a Senior Associate at Massey Capital where he has responsibility for operations engineering projects. Prior to that, Masri was responsible for sourcing, financial modelling, due diligence and securing debt financing for Massey Capital’s platform acquisitions that included Egan Visual Corporation and Allturf Ltd.
Prior to Massey Capital, Masri (i) was a member of the debt advisory team at 4Front Capital Partners (ii) held several positions at RBC Capital Markets in derivative transactions including interest rate, options, equity and structured products and (iii) was an Associate at Monarch Wealth. Masri began his career at CIBC on an enterprise technology project team with a scope of +20,000 users.
Considered Massey Capita’s operational “swiss army knife”, Masri enjoys problem solving, building culture, engaging clients, and leveraging the power of technology.
Masri holds a B.A. Honours degree in Economics from Carleton University. He lives in Toronto with his wife Ashley and enjoys cycling, travelling and cooking backyard feasts on his smoker barbeque.
Anam Chaudry is the Finance Manager at Massey Capital where she has senior finance and accounting responsibility for a portfolio of companies.
Chaudhry has +8-year diverse background in Finance & Accounting from the property management, vehicle financing industries and auto repair industries. Chaudry held senior financial roles at Industrial Alliance Auto Finance (formerly CTL), Harmony Management Ltd. and Canadian Auto Repair Holdings Inc.
Chaudhry is a CPA, CA and holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Toronto. Chaudhry lives in Oakville with her husband, 2 young kids and enjoys travelling and cooking in her free time.
Sandra Kosziwka is the Director of Finance at Massey Capital where she has overall finance, accounting and treasury responsibility for all portfolio companies.
Kosziwka has an extensive +20-year background in Finance & Accounting including controllership, treasury, financial planning & analyses, and process reengineering.
From 2001 to 2016, Kosziwka held Senior Manager positions in the Finance and Technology areas of CIBC and TD where she provided complex financial planning and analyses support to the Technology, Risk and Enterprise Architecture teams. Prior to joining the financial industry, she held various financial positions at Mount Sinai Hospital, The Mortgage Insurance Company of Canada, Progressive Insurance and Jim Pattison Sign Group.
Kosziwka, a CMA, holds a Bachelor of Administrative & Commercial Studies degree from the University of Western Ontario. She lives in the Beaches neighborhood in Toronto with her husband Roman and enjoys bike trips, canoe tripping, travelling and yoga.
Adam Bortolussi is a 15+ year seasoned operations executive with a powerful combination of strategy, operations and technology innovation that has proven to propel small, medium and large companies to the next level.
Most recently, Bortolussi spent 7 years as Corporate Vice President, Strategy & Operations at FirstService Corporation – the largest residential property management company in North America. Bortolussi was instrumental in developing and executing on a strategy that turned FirstService Corporation from a holding company of over 40 small to medium acquisitions to a single operating industry leading brand with a more centralized and streamlined service delivery model. Bortolussi had leadership over corporate strategy and governance, property operations, customer experience, technology innovation, project management, training and development and reporting & analytics.
Bortolussi also worked as a Management Consultant at Deloitte Consulting as part of its Strategy & Operations practice servicing large enterprise clients on large scale business transformation initiatives focused on cost reduction and revenue enhancement from design through to implementation.
Bortolussi spent the early part of his career at Cintas Corporation, a leading multinational facility services provider where he rotated through various management positions in production, sales, service, finance & accounting that established a strong fundamental understanding of the cross-functional mechanics of an organization and a talent for leading people that saw him rise quickly through the ranks to take on a number of progressive market and regional leadership positions.
Bortolussi holds a BA in Economics from Western University and an HBA and MBA from the Ivey Business School in London, Ontario. He currently resides with his wife and two kids in Toronto, Ontario.
Scott Newhouse is recognized as a top “out of the box” operational executive leader in the industry today, with core strengths in organizational efficiency, growth strategy implementation and dynamic culture creation.
Prior to joining Massey Capital as Partner Newhouse founded, built, and sold a number of firms; including:
CTL Corp, an indirect non-prime auto finance firm, as its President and COO where he was instrumental in building the platform and forming the team that grew the portfolio from $0 in 2010 to $180million in 2015. CTL (now iA Auto Finance) was sold to Industrial Alliance in 2015.
Harmony Management, a property management and cleaning services provider, as President and CEO where he built up the firm from 0 units in 2012 to 6,500 units and 35,000 hours of cleaning, totaling $3.9 billion in real estate assets under management. Newhouse sold Harmony in 2017 to Associa, the largest residential property management firm in North America based out of Dallas.
S & S Properties Group, a real estate investment group specializing in multi-unit student residential properties. As Managing Partner, Newhouse grew the portfolio to over 80 units from 1998-2016, with multiple “build and flips” each year of operation. Newhouse sold the majority of its holdings in 2016 to a London land developer.
Versara, a specialty finance firm focused in personal injury litigation financing. As a Partner in Versara, Newhouse helped develop a strong performing and sizeable book of loans until the company was sold to a private equity firm in 2016.
Prior to founding the above companies, he was Vice President of FirstService Residential, Ontario (TSX:FSV). In this role, Newhouse was responsible to oversee 40,000+ units (asset value of $14 billion) in the Ontario Region. Newhouse was also instrumental in starting up the Residences of the Ritz Carlton.
Newhouse sits on numerous boards, acting in capacities that range from General Manager to President. Newhouse is a graduate from University of Toronto and holds various designations from industry related colleges/universities.
Roman Kocur was a member of executive teams that built three Canadian public companies (FSV, CIGI & GAC) to collective market caps of +$6.0 billion.
Kocur is one of Canada’s most respected M&A “buy side” executives at the lower mid-market level having sourced, negotiated, closed and integrated +100 acquisitions.
Kocur has a background in strategic planning, leadership, operations, business development, finance & IT. During his career, he led teams of +4,000 across Canada and the U.S, and has been involved in numerous industry consolidations, turn-arounds, start-ups, IPOs and capital market equity and debt transactions.
From 2012 to 2016, Kocur served as Regional President at FirstService Corporation (TSX:FSV) – the largest residential property management firm in the world. From 2003 to 2011, he held a variety of positions at FSV including Managing Director, Corporate Development.
Prior to joining FSV, Kocur spent five years at Geac Computer Corporation Limited (TSX:GAC), one of the largest technology companies in Canada, where he served as Director, Global M&A, Group Controller, and Director, Global Financial Planning & Analysis. An industry veteran, he previously held senior financial positions at subsidiaries of Jim Pattison Group and Canadian Tire, and began his career at PWC.
Kocur, a CPA, holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Toronto – Rotman School of Management. He lives in the Beaches neighborhood in Toronto with his wife Sandra and enjoys reading, biking and canoeing.
